Periyar University is a UGC recognized university established in 1997 by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The University has been accredited with B+ Grade by NAAC and also has been awarded a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.15 points. Periyar University is named after social reformer Thanthai Periyar E. V. Ramasamy. The main campus of the University is located on the National Highway (NH7) towards Bangalore at about 8 Kms from New Bus Stand, Salem. The University has 86 affiliated colleges located in four districts of Tamil Nadu, which includes 5 autonomous colleges 65 colleges with PG departments and 45 colleges with research departments. The University imparts education at three stages, i.e., through its Departments of Study and Research, Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) and the affiliated colleges. Periyar University offers numerous courses under the departments of Biosciences, Business Studies, Commerce, Education, Life Sciences, and Languages. The university offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in different departments of education. Apart from these, the university is offering four Certificate Courses from 2009-2010 onwards.

Periyar University invites applications for admission to the full-time and part-time Ph.D. programme in different streams for the academic session 2018-2019. Candidates can submit their application form along with required processing fees and documents on or before the last date to the respective Head of the Department, Periyar University.

Periyar University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates must have passed Master's Degree in the relevant subject with 55% marks from a recognized university or Institute.
• There is 5% relaxation in marks for all reserved category candidates.

How to Apply for Ph.D. Admission in Periyar University?

The application form for Ph.D. Programmes can be obtained in two different ways.

1. The application form can be downloaded from the official website of the university.

2. It can be obtained directly from the university campus.

Only Duly filled in applications form will be accepted, incomplete applications forms will not be accepted by the University.

The Candidates have to pay the application form fee through Demand Draft from any nationalized bank drawn in favor of “The Registrar, Periyar University, Periyar Palkalai Nagar, Salem” Payable at “Salem”. No other modes of payment are accepted by the university.
